This month, Salt & Straw is featuring its “Spooktacular” series. Created by Tyler Malek, Salt & Straw’s Head Ice Cream Maker, the Halloween flavors will be available by the scoop and pint at all Salt & Straw locations through October 31st.

One of the spooky flavors is The Great Candycopia, which combines salted butterscotch ice cream, and an abundance of homemade snickers, whoppers, heath bars, and peanut butter cups. It is described as a Trick-or-Treat bag turned inside-out.” As long as there is no candy corn, we are down. Dracula’s Blood Pudding was formulated to please thrill-seekers. It mixes a trick with the treat. The ice cream contains real blood pudding, with a hint of chicken liver. Spices are carefully balanced to make sure the ice cream is still delicious. There are also themed sherbets and sorbets. Essence of Ghost is a gray, foggy-looking sherbet with its own special set of flavors that are bitter, sweet, and slightly musky. The Jack o’ Lantern Pumpkin Sherbet highlights the flavor of fresh raw pumpkin to remind you of your childhood pumpkin-carving days. Love Potion Sorbet “is spiked with a secret compound of aphrodisiac fruits & spice.” It sounds like it may also have a Pop Rocks effect on the tongue.

If you try the seasonal flavors, let us know what you think!
