Give Me Cat Shelters: Architects for Change

Architects for Animals® “Giving Shelter” exhibita fundraiser for FixNation, happened Thursday evening 10/19. Several architecture firms and designers displayed their outdoor dwellings for cats during a cocktail reception with vegan hors d’oeuvres at the Herman Miller Showroom in Culver City. Also on display were one-of-a-kind cat food bowls decorated by various celebrities.

Fix Nation is in its tenth year of providing free spay or neuter services to feral cats who are TNR (trapped, neutered or spayed, and released back to community). Feral cats, so treated, have their ears tipped (a small cut of ear tip) to alert folks that they can not longer multiple. If you don’t agree to ear tipping, then there is a small fee.

Upon leaving the event I came across two stray cats apparently living on the warehouse district streets. A stark reminder as to why the work of Fix Nation, along with the Feral Cat Coalition, Stray Cats Alliance, Milo’s sanctuary and others is so important.
