All-Star Chef Classic Returns to LA Live and We Can’t Wait!

Next month, the fifth annual All-Star Chef Classic will heat up L.A. LIVE’s Event Deck with four days of culinary magic. From March 7-10, 2018. There will be a variety of dining experiences, including seated dinners and strolling tasting events. More than 40 renowned chefs from near and far will gather to create special dishes. The seated, multicourse dinners are not to be missed. Top chefs work together to prepare your meal while you watch from your table in the kitchen stadium, which is like theatre-in-the-round. It is truly a delight for the senses as you can see, hear, smell, and then taste various courses. Dinner guests will also enjoy specially selected beverage pairings, including Hangar 1 Vodka and Reserva de la Familia cocktails.

There are two strolling event this year, Grill & Chill and the Middle Eastern Feast. In past years, the large tent and patio has been bathed in blue and red mood lighting, but there were lightboxes on either end of the room for taking perfectly lit pictures. Instagram away! Another big help for guests and bloggers alike is the clear and well-placed signage. The strolling events are pretty mellow; there aren’t a lot of lines, and chefs aren’t too overwhelmed to chat with you about their dish.

THE EVENTS

FRIDAY March 9, 2018 ALL-STAR WOMEN’S MASTERS DINNER

My favorite dinner is always the one prepared exclusively by women. This year’s “All-Star Women Masters Dinner” will highlight the chefs’ diverse cooking styles. Participating are one of The LA Beat’s personal favorites, Nyesha Arrington from Native, chef, cookbook author and television personality, the James Beard Award-winning Michelle Bernstein of Crumb on Parchment in Miami, and Top Chef finalist, the charming and skilled Shirley Chung. $295-$425

FRIDAY March 9, 2018 MIDDLE EAST FEAST

All-Star Chefs will present the first “Middle East Feast.” This tasting event features chefs from all across the country who are experts in Middle Eastern cooking. First, we have the beloved LA local, Vartan Abgaryan, who disproved the myth that food with a view has to be bad with his sky-scraping 71Above. Another LA chef, Micah Wexler of Wexler’s Deli will be participating, and we hope he is bringing smoked fish. Joining them. we have a native of Tel Aviv–cookbook author, restaurateur and chef, Einat Admony of NYC’s popular Bar Bolonat, and Seattle’s own pastry chef -turned-executive-chef Carrie Mashaney from Mamnoon in Seattle, as well as reps from Washington D.C. and Portland.  $125-$250

The seated “Spanish Masters’ Dinner” which brings the innovative cuisine by way of five master chefs and specially curated Spanish wines, is sold out. You can sign up for the wait list here. $295-$425

Unfortunately, the Little Masters kid’s cooking class with Duff Goldman is already sold out.  Wait list here.

SATURDAY March 10, 2018 GRILL & CHILL

This is the can’t-miss event in the series. I LOVE Grill & Chill. half of the chefs are out on the patio grilling, barbecuing and smoking all kinds of delicious meats and savories. Inside the tent, there are more chefs busy creating chilled bites and desserts. Chefs include heavy hitters like the South Bay’s David Lefevre of MB Post, Evan Funke of LA’a hottest new Italian eatery, Felix, and Steve Samson from Rossoblu, plus Nyesha Arrington, Michael Fiorelli, Michelle Bernestein, Tumothy Hollingsworth, and too many more to mention! The evening includes unlimited tastings and open bars. $125-$250
