This past weekend, the Music Tastes Good festival brought the house down in sunny Long Beach, California.  As the third year iteration of the festival, Music Tastes Good has gotten the experience down to a T, with amazing food, an enthusiastic variety of performers, and a very relaxed, indie atmosphere.

Lizzo, an upbeat and no-nonsense lady from Minneapolis was a definite highlight–even taking a swig of vodka in the middle of her performance. From hits like “Coconut Oil” to “Boys” and “Good as Hell,” Lizzo was definitely one of my favorites. Janelle Monae was also an incredible performer, switching from outfit to outfit and hit song to hit song seamlessly. Given that “Dirty Computer” was one of my favorite records of 2018, I was elated to hear her perform a majority of the tracklist. James Blake finished off the night with some eclectic beats paired with sultry vocals. All in all, Music Tastes Good was one of the best festivals I’ve attended and I’d love to see what they put on next year.
