The Los Angeles Times brought its annual food festival The Taste LA to Orange County last weekend with inaugural The Taste Costa Mesa, held in a courtyard of The Met, a mixed use complex across the street from South Coast Plaza. The Met proved to be an ideal location for the event, with food and drink booths sprinkled comfortably among the modern outdoor decor, a large tent with the majority of vendors, and plenty of room to lounge, listen to the great live bands, or take in one of the food demonstrations held daily.
Standouts on Sunday included Gus’s Fried Chicken from Long Beach, shredded pork on brioche with pickled cabbage from Habana Irvine, meat pies from Pie-Not, and unique spirits such as Avila, cousin to tequila or mescal, and new Australian whisky Starward.
