Do you like Surf music? Tiki culture? Awesome faux German bierhalles that may or may not be razed for ‘progress’ some time in the foreseeable future? With every yes you answered, you know in you heart that you need to attend the 12th Annual Surf Guitar Convention next Saturday at Alpine Village in Torrance.

From noon to midnight on August 3rd, the South Bay’s favorite home away from Heidelberg transforms itself into a celebration of twangy, reverb soaked guitar from some of the best Surf bands from Southern California and beyond–as far away, in fact as Spain (Los Tiki Phantoms) and Argentina (Los Freneticos). The Boss Martian headline, one of three bands from Seattle; the Surfragettes, on their first US tour and the Delstroyers, are the others. Other highlights include anniversary performances by the Insect Surfers (40 years) and the Pyronauts (20), as well as a tribute to the recently departed Surf guitar icon Dick Dale. And, don’t worry, while everything may be coming up Tiki, Alpine Village’s delicious German beer will remain on tap.

12th Annual Surf Guitar 101 Convention. Saturday, August 3, 2019, 12 Noon-Midnight. Alpine Village, 833 W Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA 90502. $40 at the door, 18 and under free with parent.
