New Orleans is one of my favorite cities, but I’ve never been to Jazz Fest (and now who knows when the hell I’ll be able to?). Fortunately, venerable NOLA radio station WWOZ is in the midst of “Jazz Festing in Place,” eight days of archival Jazz Fest broadcasts, produced in conjunction with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation. The other day I couldn’t NOT shake my butt to a rocking Fats Domino set, and a friend texted that Ella Fitzgerald was making her cry.
Tune in any time between 11am and 6:30pm Central Time, Thursday April 23 – Sunday April 26, and then again Thursday April 30 – Sunday May 3. It’s great music to lift your spirits and keep you company.
