In honor of Father’s Day, but extending though Sunday, June 26, you can enjoy an Aberfeldy whisky tasting for just $25 at three of LA’s best bars.

The Varnish (Downtown), Mister O’s (Studio City) and Birdie G’s (Santa Monica) are all offering this special “Golden Hour” tasting. You and your dad, or perhaps another father figure in your life, can savor two whiskey-forward cocktails and a shot of Aberfeldy, or two shots of Aberfeldy and a cocktail, during this one-hour experience.

I previewed the Golden Hour tasting at Mister O’s, where I got to savor their fabulous take on the Penicillin (Aberfeldy, Amaro, lemon juice, ginger syrup, and salted honey syrup). Then, we enjoyed the Juniper Rose (Aberfeldy 12, Applejack, Junipero, rosewater, grenadine, and lime). Our tasting finished with a shot of Aberfeldy 12. You’ll find notes of vanilla and peat, along with subtle oakiness, in this single-malt scotch.

I asked Frederico Dupon, Aberfeldy’s Los Angeles Brand Ambassador, what makes Aberfeldy special. He told me, “It’s a classic Highlands Single Malt Scotch whisky dating back to the distillery’s founding in 1898. This whisky has beautiful, rich honeyed notes that come from a long fermentation which allows for more flavor development. Aged for a minimum of 12 years in a combination of American and European casks, it’s great for whisky enthusiasts and newer whisky drinkers alike.”

What drinks are best suited to Aberfeldy? Dupon shared that, while it’s great as a dram, “the characteristic honeyed notes in the whisky make it best complemented by cocktails that utilize citrus, honey and herb flavors.”

$25 is a serious bargain for a tasting of this caliber – you’d normally pay $17 for just one of these cocktails at Mister O’s. You can make reservations for any of the bars offering the  Aberfeldy “Golden Hour” via TOCK. Cheers!
