Are you infuriated by the White House’s treatment of Ukranian President Zelenskyy today? Are you ashamed by the way we are abandoning our allies in need? Do you wish there were something you could do to help the Ukraine today? You can!!!!
Mar 11, 2025, at 5:30 PM, there will be a film screening of “Mariupol: Survivors” during International Women’s Month. This documentary, directed by Mariia Mykhno allows three intergenerational survivors to tell you their stories of the Russian massacre of Mariupol, where the Russian army indiscriminately murdered between 87,000 and 138,000 civilians at the beginning of the war.
Mariupol is still controlled by Russia, and the exact victim count is unknowable. This documentary is not only a film but also serves as a call to action.
Proceeds benefit Interfaith Refugee and Immigrant Service (IRIS), a non-profit, non-sectarian organization of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, that offers refugee resettlement assistance and immigration legal aid to people of all faiths (and people of none), races, ethnicities, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, and other markers of difference. All gifts are tax-deductible. Federal Tax ID #95-1684078.
(Note from IRIS: On January 20th, President Trump signed an Executive Order suspending U.S. refugee resettlement. Just days later, on Friday, January 24th, IRIS received an official stop-work notice from the Department of State. Effective immediately, all federal funding for refugee resettlement has been frozen—including the funds that cover essential expenses like staff payroll, rent, food, and case management.
This means that NO federal funds can be used to help any of our 46 most recently arrived refugee clients. We are now unable to provide assistance to the refugee families who arrived in the last 30 days—families who, after years of waiting and fleeing horrific conditions of violence overseas, finally reached safety here– only to face yet another crisis.)
