Upcoming: The Art of Bleeding Presents Halloween Highway 2

Remember those gory cautionary Driver’s Ed films like Red Asphalt? The Art of Bleeding’s Halloween Highway 2 at The Steve Allen Theater transports you right into the screen with their “perturbing mix of cartoonish costumes, puppets, vintage educational films, animation, and thinly veiled medical fetishism to create a sort of ‘paramedical funhouse.'”

It’s kind of scary like a haunted house, kind of sexy like a burlesque show, part performance art, part car accident installation, part dark comedy. but to even try to define it takes away from the fun. Like a David Lynch film or Thelonius Monk composition, some things defy definition. Ride with it. Just be aware that along the ride, the siren will be wailing.

Go if you loved Taffy pouring ketchup all over herself in Female Trouble. Avoid if you faint at the sight of blood or have not yet gotten over a traumatic car accident. Attendees are encouraged to dress as nurses, paramedics and car accident victims.

The brainchild of artist Al Ridenour, performers include famous and infamous local musicians like Abby Travis, Kim Fowley, Dukey Flyswatter, and Don Bolles. Featured performers/comics are Margaret Cho, Neil Hamburger, and Crimebo the Clown, with a random appearance by Andy Dick.

Halloween Highway 2 will be performed Friday, October 28, Saturday, October 29, and Sunday, October 30 at The Steve Allen Theater promptly at 8pm. Only 10 bucks! Don’t be late!
