Nope, this photo is not the latest winner of a Project Runway Competition. It is a preview of today’s “Trashin’ Fashion Show” featuring garments made from recycled materials.
The Trashin’ Fashion Show is just one event in the Urban Ocean Festival being held today and tomorrow between 9am and 5pm by the Aquarium of the Pacific.
In addition, activities include cooking demonstrations, speakers, book signings, special activities for children, mural painting, live music performances, and a poetry contest.
“Special urban ocean cruises are also scheduled during the festival and throughout the summer (at an additional cost). The Urban Ocean: World Port and Sea Life Cruises launch on the festival weekend and will occur monthly through September (at 4:00 p.m. on June 19, July 9, August 13, and September 3). The Poetry Ocean Cruise led by poets Linda Albertano and Elliot Freed is scheduled for Saturday, June 18 at 4:00 p.m.”
The festival is included in aquarium admission $24.95 adult (12+), $21.95 senior (62+), $12.95 child (3-11), and free for children under age 3.
There is a special combination price that includes both the aquarium admission and ocean cruise for $39.95 for adults (12+) and $15 for children
