The Taste- Wow what an amazing event! I was only able to make it to the last day of the event for “Picnic in the Hills” but boy was it an experience. One word to sum it all up? Overwhelming! So many flavors. Sweet. Salty. Savory. Spicy. It was crazy! My taste buds were elated for all the yummy things to sample. By the end of it all I had a food baby growing in my stomach. There was every one there from Giada De Laurentiis to Debi Mazar. What’s Also worth mentioning? Only the most amazing chefs that showed up to help feed my ever growing interest in food! A few of my favorite restaurants were Green Leaf, Erbe Matte, Stella Rossa, and B Sweet Catering. Of course I wasn’t too careful counting calories but I did make it a point to find the most healthy samples to try. Here are just a few things thing that were just to die for! I took notes and I’m going to be trying to re-create some of these in my own kitchen. New recipes to come for sure!
Veggie burgers from The Counter: provolone cheese, red bell pepper, and Dijon balsamic vinaigrette dressing on a sweet bun.
Salad from Grace: Farro grain and spinach with some kind of vinaigrette dressing, garnished with pecorino cheese.
Salad from Green Leaf: This was not your ordinary salad. Nothing but the best ingredients from this chef. Pomegranate whole grain vinaigrette, fresh strawberries, blue berries, mixed greens, and agave candied walnuts. They even make their own granola!
Kale Salad and Quinoa from Huckleberry Cafe: Kale with pine nuts, olive oil and lemon vinaigrette. Quinoa with lemon juice, mint, tarragon and olive oil.
My inner fat kid was definitely out to play so I just HAD to have dessert! BUT I did go for something on the healthier side… I think…Vegan carrot cake from B Sweet.
SATISFIED!
