Friday evening Royal T hosted “The Roots of Kawaii: a tribute to the artwork of Rune Naito, whose big-eyes girls and cutesy animal drawings have made him a pioneer in Kawaii. The event had some of Naito’s prints on sale, but it was primarily museum-like displays of his many illustrations.
Kawaii is the Japanese conception of “cuteness”, and 6%DokiDoki’s fashion show celebrated the style with excitement as the models frolicked onstage to the cheers of the crowd, who were fans of particular models. The shop had some great gifts, including a Medicom Toy pop-up shop. It’s definitely worth a stop during your holiday shopping.
