Upcoming: Cultivate LA Food and Wine Event

October 13, 2012 at a historic private Bel Air estate, United Friends of the Children will present their fourth annual Cultivate LA Food & Wine event. Participating chefs include Suzanne Goin, Susan Feniger, and Joachim Splichal.

Local breweries and California vintners will be pouring at the modern-day garden party. They will include Moraga Vineyards, Margerum, Cent ‘Anni, Frank Family Vineyards Silver Oak and JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery, and “one of the world’s most precious single malt whiskeys, The Macallan.”

Desserts to be served are from the finest in LA:  Sprinkles, Magnolia, Duff’s Cakemix, Buttercake Bakery and Vanilla Bake Shop. There will also be cocktail demos, a wine auction and book signings. “VIP ticket purchasers will enjoy a reception including a private art tour of the estate and a special champagne and Petrossian caviar tasting.”

Admission to the event starts at $175.  General admission begins at 6:30pm. United Friends of the Children helps foster children to transition into adulthood, with job seeking assistance, housing, advocacy, and educational opportunities.

Looking at everybody standing here in the photo, all neatly dressed and holding their TINY “correct-size” servings of food, it kinda makes me ashamed of the way I look when I attend these kind of buffets, lol. You can always spot ME at them:I’m the ONLY one in the crowd who has sneaked into the kitchen (after bribing the cook) to snag THE BIGGEST plate I can find, then have walked up to the outdoor server (who is standing there, staring in awe and horror at me) and shouted “FILL’ER UP!” Nope, no “finger food” for this girl, gimme a feed bag and I’m happy, lol! 🙂
