Chris Wilson composes and plays progressive jazz, although lately he’s been getting his Earth, Wind and Fire on, too, gigging with a funk band around LA. His new CD is called “Soul Searchin”, from CKDub Productions.
TONIGHT — Thursday, October 10 — 9 pm — catch him live at The Viper Room, 8852 W. Sunset, 310-358-1881 — he’ll be there with Diana Salvatore.
On 9/22/2013, Chris Wilson played for Chaka Kahn, Ray Parker, Jr., Dennis Edwards and Siedah Garret at the HAL (Heroes and Legends) Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel. His discography includes keyboards for Knagui Giddins on “The Meaning of Love”, Rita Marie Valle on “Delight”, and Reginal Paul “Perfect Thing.” Next Saturday, October 19, he’ll play at Taste of Soul / LA in the heart of the Crenshaw.
You can also find him rocking the house band at Howl at the Moon/Hollywood in Universal City, and his own band, THIRST, books around town.
He’s a thought-provoking Scorpio, so the sparkling surface of his licks is just the polished topside of a deeper siren-song, the undertow drawing us down, down, down below the waves to a far more mysterious vibe.
And when his digits aren’t on the keyboards, he’s teaching himself to play the harmonica.
