LA Girl: Sabrina Antoinette

Sabrina first hit the music scene with a feature on “Trumpet Lights” off Chris Brown’s Grammy nominated album “Fortune” and signed to his CBE (Culture Beyond Experience) imprint. She’s toured throughout the Southwest and Los Angeles area and built a following with her dynamic live shows and residencies at House of Blues, Hard Rock Café, The W Hotel and more. Most recently Sabrina played at the 2014 SXSW Music Festival and will be performing at the Springboard Music Festival in Houston.

Her newest, the debut EP “Kiss Kiss X Bang Bang,” captures a carefree, hypnotic indie pop sound with the spirit of rock and soul influences. Check out “Lois Lane” here.

I’m a Texas girl at heart, but I love me some LA! Music is everywhere, the sun is always out, the weather is bomb, and when the temp drops at night, you can layer. Its a win-win for me here. There’s an energy here that is inspiring. Its a place full of people believing in their dreams. There are so many creative people in this city. Being surrounded by that is a gift.

My music is very personal to me. Each song is like a little music baby. For some reason the more drama in my life, the better my music is … it’s a gift and a curse.

When it comes to fashion and music, they go hand in hand to me. It’s like a passionate love affair that is inseparable. They are both forms of a creative expression. You could say I’m an emotional dresser. Whatever mood I’m feeling that day is what I’m putting on. I love that fashion is another creative outlet for me. Some people do yoga for a hobby, fashion is mine.

I had an amazing opportunity to collaborate with Belgian designer David Giampiccolo to create a two-piece black and white dress that ended up being a hit. My first official design collaboration! It has been worn by Aubrey O’Day, Sevyn Streeter, Dawn Richard, etc. I hope to do more in the future and have my own line.

Working with designers gives me an eye for details, and the importance of the perfect fit. I believe its very important to know your body type when getting dressed, or buying clothes. Details make all the difference.
