Santa Monica is host to many great restaurants, but none has as unique a concept as the Rustic Canyon Seasonal Wine Bar and Seasonal Kitchen. Growing out of founder Josh Loeb’s love of serving intimate dinners for friends at his home in Rustic Canyon, it has grown into a brick and mortar concept on Santa Monica Boulevard, while still maintaining the intimacy of home dining. It has turned into a neighborhood restaurant where people can come together over artisanal beers, hand-crafted cocktails and fine wine.

The ever changing menu consists of Farmer’s Market inspired dishes with ingredients sourced from local fisherman, farmers and ranchers. Sustainable seafood and agricultural products are highlighted at Rustic Canyon. Chef Fox regularly visits the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market as well as getting inspiration from other local puveyors. As a showcase for Chef Jeremy Fox, Executive Chef for Rustic Canyon, he will present a special five-course tasting dinner on Monday, July 14.

Chef Chad Robertson

The partner for Chef Fox’s dinner will be Chad Robertson, award winning baker and co-partner of San Francisco’s Tartine Bakery and Cafe. The evening’s theme will be dishes inspired by Robertson’s newest book, Tartine Book No, 3: Modern Ancient Classic Whole. Chef Fox will prepare each course, while Robertson will provide a complementing artisanal bread to go along. Also participating will be Rustic Canyon’s acclaimed baker Zoe Nathan, who spent her early baking career as an intern at Tartine with Robertson as her friend and monitor. In the book, Robertson shares his groundbreaking new techniques and master recipes emphasizing whole and ancient grains.

Guests can attend one of two seatings at the July 14 dinner, a first seating between 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., or a secomd seating between 8 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. The price of the dinner is $65 per person for the five courses. For guests wishing to obtain the cookbook that the dinner is based upon, a special price of $100 will cover both the five course dinner and a copy of the cookbook. Reservations are required for the dinner.
