Following the beautiful Marilyn Monroe Memorial in Westwood a few days ago, a group of us met at the wonderful new Bourbon DTLA bar and restaurant for an outstanding dinner prepared by talented Chef Kurt Ehrlich, who served as chef to Presidents Reagan, Ford and Nixon. The menu relies on American standards — Bar food, steaks, classic salads, and pasta. Entrees are affordable; the generous servings range from $10 to $25.
What a memorable and fine feast we had! Our food was amazing, as was the prompt and friendly service.
I’ve enjoyed Chef Kurt’s delicious food for years at super publicist Roger Neal’s A-List Oscar Suites, so when I was invited to his newest venture I knew the food would be excellent — and it was! We started the evening with hot fresh garlic bread followed by a superb grand sized salad nicoise with tender salmon on a bed of organic greens. It was sooooo good! Next up was a sumptuous grilled skinless chicken accompanied by tasty hot lemon shrimp, a medley of tender sautéed vegetables and a mouth watering well seasoned baked potato. The pasta prima vera tasted as good as it looked, as were the wonderful desserts to conclude the delicious gourmet meal.
Bourbon DTLA is located in the heart of the hip LA Arts District at 734 E. Third Street. The atmosphere is cozy, comfortable, and fun. Perfect for a meal with family and friends or work colleagues. There are also intimate candlelit tables for romantic dates. Diners can enjoy classic drinks from the well stocked bar. There is live jazz and R&B five nights a week and comedy on Sunday nights. They even host burlesque nights n weekends. I highly recommend Bourbon DTLA!
