Charm City Cakes West, the Los Angles outpost of Chef Duff Goldman’s well known cake decorating bakery, will be running cake decorating classes in September and October. Classes will be open to anyone who wishes to learn to re-create some of the several new trends in cake decorating. Participants will not only be able to create their own cakes but also to take home their 6” iced cake after the class.
Art Deco has always been popular and even now many interior designs show how popular the 1920’s glass and metal décor is. The art deco class combines metallic colors, sleek designs and 1920’s style, teaching participants how to customize a cake with a 1920’s art deco theme.
Romance has never gone out of style and the Romance cake decorating class gives everyone a chance to create handmade roses and flowers. Members of the class will each create a romantic lace cake and learn piping techniques to create the perfect cake for that romantic moment. Rachel, cake decorating instructor at Charm City Cakes West, will help each student create that “Love is in the air” feeling on their own cake.
The original “Let them eat cake” lady, Marie Antoinette, serves as the inspiration for learning to design a regal rococo design cake. Participants will learn to airbrush pre made roses, make fleur de lis cutouts and pipe gold detailing on the cake that will be fit for a Queen!
Ombré Ruffle is a class that features two trendy, popular and yet classic looks. Gumpaste preparation, decor fundamentals and ruffle application swill be taught as a way to achieve the popular ‘frilly’ look. Participants will finish their cake in teal, pink, yellow or purple Ombré.
Classes are $150 per student and open to anyone over the age of 14. Interested cake decorating students 14 or under may participate of accompanied by a guardian.
