Ready? Set? Go!!! This summer on June 13th, Dodger Stadium will be hosting The Color Run, known as the “Happiest 5k on the Planet.” There will actually be two runs that day. The first run will begin at 8am. The second run will start at 2pm. Although this will be a 5 kilometer run around Elysian Park, walkers and little runners (5 years of age and under) will be able to participate in 15 minute waves. At each kilometer, runners will be doused with a different color. This ritual is inspired by holi, the spring celebration of love and frolic in India.
The Color Run started in 2011 to promote health, happiness and individuality. The event has exploded, and is currently celebrated all across the nation and in more than 50 countries. There are two rules of the color run; wear white, and be covered in color at the end of the race!!!” The 5k is untimed, so you can forget competition and focus on having fun. This year is The Shine Tour 2015, bringing sparkle and shimmer with gleaming 5K course attractions, sparkly photo ops, confetti cannons, and metallic shine packets galore!
The run will end with a Finish Festival, where a DJ spins and everyone dances and gets covered in color and sparkles. Spectators are welcome to join the party, and color packs can be purchased on site. Register now and start training. Registration includes a racing kit, including a custom Race tee, gold finishers medal, tricolor headband, a special edition glitter pack, classic color pack, and gold tattoos.
The early bird fee is $39.50 per runner, $35/ per team runner (4 people registered as a team get a discount), and $15/ little runners. You can register here. There will also be runs in Pomona and Ventura.
