If you’re a lover of alternative rock/ambient music, there’s a compelling new release on the way from local artist Jennifer Hope; the single “Bring Me To Life”. Best described as hauntingly melodic, this release from Los Angeles-based Hope sounds like it would be equally comfortable in a club or movie soundtrack. It starts off almost innocently with synth and vocals, and then segues into a hypnotic track laden with bass and a rhythm. It can be dark and light at the same time, and it makes me wonder what the rest of the album will sound like and in a way, defies classification.
Set for release on February 5, the single will be available at all major digital music outlets including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Apple Music.
The track was produced by Jennifer Hope and European Producer, Pete Strobl, mixed by Multi-Platinum Producer and Mixer, Warren Huart (The Fray, James Blunt, Aerosmith) and features guest vocals by Singer/Songwriter, Christopher Webb.
Taking on such an iconic song was no easy feat but Jennifer wanted to cover a song by a female artist, who like Hope, is more involved in the writing process and composes her own songs on the piano. Jennifer chose not to alter her version significantly, rather adding some aspects typical of her unconventional style; a descending modulation, an atmospheric sound combined with dark, edgy elements and a mix of ethereal and alternative rock vocals.
The result is a slow/mid tempo, dynamic track with bass and drum driven choruses and an interpretive array of vocal intrigue.
