Come April 17th the world will have even more for which to thank Julie Newmar (above and beyond that of those articulated by Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo).  From 12 noon until 4 pm just a day before taxes are due, Ms. Newmar’s garden will officially be added on the itinerant list of the Pacific Palisades 2016 Garden Tour.  Lush with roses and secret enclaves, this TV Icon and Tony winner’s green thumb is truly the gift that keeps on giving!

Additional varieties of gardens featured on the tour: a cut-flower shade garden and orchard, a GreenPoint rated water-wise landscape garden, a sculpture garden featuring complementary concentric landscaping, a school vegetable garden abundant with farm animals, an oasis garden with all manner of capricious attributes, a succulent hillside garden, and the N/E/X/T garden in Temescal Canyon highlighting native plants of California and xeriscape garden! Highlighted gardens reside in Pacific Palisades, Brentwood and Santa Monica including Yamaguchi Nursery and Merrihew’s Nursery.

The tour will occur rain or shine between the hours of noon and 4 pm. Tickets are $30 each and are available online at http://pacpalgardenclub.org  Children accompanied by an adult are admitted free but their strollers are not—admitted in the gardens that is…

Tickets purchased online will be available the day of the tour at a Will Call location disclosed to each purchaser via email. Refreshments available for donation will include fresh baked cookies. Bottled water is complimentary.  All related earnings go to fund communal education, beautification and public school student gardens.  The Pacific Palisades Garden Club, founded in 1994, is a charitable non-profit association for the benefit of Westside LA dwellers who enjoy gardening and engaging with gardeners in kind.

Yes, beginning Sunday April 17th trim back your tax player blues by delighting in all manner of trimmed stems, vegetation or otherwise the Palisades and beyond!

About Jennifer K. Hugus

Jennifer K. Hugus was born at a very young age. At an even earlier age, she just knew she would one day write for the LA Beat! Having grown up in Massachusetts, France, and Denmark, she is a noted fan of Asian Cuisine. She studied ballet at the Royal Danish Ballet Theatre and acting at U.S.C. in their prestigious BFA drama program. She also makes her own jewelry out of paints and canvas when she isn’t working on writing absurdist plays and comparatively mainstream screenplays. Jennifer would like to be a KID when she grows up!
