The endangered Blue Whale excursions started recently with the ongoing monthly Urban Ocean tours via Harbor Breeze Cruises and the Aquarium of the Pacific. This year’s Blue Whale sighting activity off the shores of San Pedro appears to be robust. The day of our excursion was phenomenal, with these beautiful creatures circling the catamaran for over a half-hour with a total of 6 Blue Whales feeding, including a large bull. A mother and baby surfaced as we all watched in wonder. There has been an increase in Humpback Whale sightings too. The Whales were so close we could see their blow holes with out much effort as they rolled above the waves of the ocean all around us. The topper was a huge Bull Blue Whale fluking before a deep dive. It was a sight to behold and you can see it in the video attached to this article.
