This Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 – 6:00PM, The Wiltern Food Series will present a screening of the documentary film “City of Gold,” followed by a Q&A and concluding with a tasting party catered by local food and drink vendors.
“City of Gold” is an exploration of Los Angeles and its many cultures through its veritable bonanza of culinary treasures, led by the trailblazing, Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold. Gold writes about food the way Gabriel García Márquez wrote about love. Gold’s articles can wax romantic, lyrical, and even a little dramatic. Perhaps it’s because he loves not only the food, but the people who make it. More importantly, Jonathan Gold loves this city, and through food, he is able to take us on a journey through the multicultural mecca that is Los Angeles. Documentary filmmaker Laura Gabbert, using overhead shots and POV, captures the rhythm and colors of Los Angeles the way Jonathan Gold captures its flavors and sensations. Together, they reveal the essence of the city in a way it has never been realized before.
All ages, full bar and food. GA Tickets start at $12. There are several upgrades available for better seating and extras like parking, popcorn and movie posters.
