Anyone who was at “The Bullock” art opening back in 2014 at The Known Gallery knows of the majesty, mayhem and excitement it created in the Art and Punk worlds. My article “The Bollocks” A Private Reception for Dennis Morris at Known Gallery” found it to be a star-studded event chronicling the early years of Punk with seminal photos and portraits of the Sex Pistols with a focus on Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious. A quote from Dennis Morris put it this way from “The Bollocks,” “The 70’s was a dismal period in England: high unemployment, unions out of control, the economy on a massive decline, England had lost its way. Punk Came. We wanted to change everything, we wanted our own heroes. The Sex Pistols filled this role, four faces of the new British Youth, brash and ready!”
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Punk, you can get your own signed copies of “The Bollocks: A Photo Essay of the Sex Pistols” by Dennis Morris, renowned photographer and former member of The Basement 5 at the Salon, 2656 South La Cienega Blvd. on Saturday Sept. 17th from 3pm to 5pm. It’s a nice way to add much-needed anarchy to your Saturday afternoon!
