Egrets on Ergot and Gitane Demone Quartet at The Offbeat

Last Tuesday marked the final night of Egrets on Ergot’s month-long residency at The Offbeat – A Bar on York in Highland Park. Mane (from San Francisco) and Gitane Demone Quartet opened the show. I arrived late and missed Mane, but got there just in time to catch one of my favorite local bands, Gitane Demone Quartet. Unfortunately, they were having technical problems at the beginning of the show, and couldn’t play the special set they’d had planned for the evening. They were clearly frustrated, but they were still able to play a few songs, and they did not disappoint (I’m always thrilled when I get to hear their cover of The Screamers “Eva Braun”). Egrets on Ergot put on an amazing show (it was the best Egrets show I’ve seen so far). They were on fire that night, the audience was eating it up like candy, and I had a blast shooting them! An impressive residency grand finale!
