If you love Fred Willard and Nicole Sullivan as much as we do, you are in luck! The actors/comedians will be bringing Hamilton’s Catsravaganza to the Montalban Theater for one night only! On April 21st, this night of music and comedy will also feature Moshow the Cat Rapper, live music from Almond&Olive and magic by Fantastic Fig and his cat, Newton. The event will also feature entertainment, games, prizes, DJ, open bar, tapas, treats, a live band plus a star-studded performance! Note that there is a gala party until midnight when you can rub elbows with the stars. Maybe don’t rub elbows with Fig. He is kind of intense.
Hamilton’s Cats is a mash-up of the two popular musicals, along with a bunch of other theatrical and musical references thrown in. According to the press agent, “Fred Willard is Playing Old Man Wallis based after Mr. Potter in “Its a Wonderful Life”. Nicole Sullivan is playing Debby Ray Lemming a take off on Abby Lee Miller from Dance Moms.” How could you possibly miss that?
The show will also feature performers like Emily Deschanel (Bones), Wendi McClendon Covey (The Goldbergs), Mindy Sterling (Con Man), and Bethany Joy Lenz (Dexter). You’ll see stars and save kittens in one feline swoop as the show will be raising funds for Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats, a 501(c)(3), the only 100% feral cat socialization facility in all of southern California.

So last year was Cats for Cats, a more or less straightforward adaption of Cats, and this year Cats will be a play within a play for a larger story drawing from Hamilton? Is that correct?
Year One and Two we did an adaptation of the musical CATS told from TS Eliot’s point of view. The last few years we have been doing a musical review or CATbaret! This year it is a really big show that is a musical smash up of CATS and HAMILTON along with lots of other music from different genres sung by celebrities.

The show will take place only once, on Saturday, April 21st at the Montalban Theater on Vine. Doors open at 7, Curtains go up at 8pm and the gala party continues until midnight The Lakers’ Bonnie-Jill Laflin, the NBA’s first female scout, will host the red carpet.
