Join East LA Community Corporation (ELACC) for their 7th Annual Taste of Boyle Heights, Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This annual fundraiser will bring access to “an unrivaled selection of the local food representing Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles.” At Taste, attendees will enjoy a variety of “iconic and delicious foods” from local street vendors–members of the Los Angeles Street Vendor Campaign–and brick and mortar businesses that “you can’t get anywhere else,” Tacos to elotes, ice cream to churros–LA’s best will be featured at Taste of Boyle Heights.
ELACC provides 25 lbs. of food to individuals and families in the community every third Wednesday of the month with a mobile food pantry through food cooperatives, helps through economic initiatives to address the lack of access to capital for many small business entrepreneurs, works to help legalize street vending, and more in support of the Boyle Heights community at large.
This year’s event will present four awards to individuals that championed and advocated for the equitable living and accountable community-driven development on the Eastside–Award-winning artist and founder of Artivist Entertainment, Maya Jupiter, Director of Community Organizing at ELACC, Carla de Paz, the Self Help Credit Union, and Genesis LA.
There will be music entertainment by Tres Souls, reliving vintage songs & sounds of the 1940’s Trio Romantico era of Bolero Music, a silent auction, and more will round out the food festival.
Proceeds go to help ELACC continue to provide comprehensive programming to improve the quality of life for Boyle Heights residents and members of our community.
Taste of Boyle Heights is at the Casa Del Mexicano, 2900 Calle Pedro Infante, Los Angeles, California, 90063. Tickets for this fundraiser are $150 and can be purchased here.
