Reggae On the Mountain – A Perfect Way to Celebrate Music & Summer

Even before I moved to Topanga Canyon some five years ago, I would always make it a point to attend the annual Reggae On The Mountain Festival. Besides being a nature paradise, Topanga is bursting with musical history. This festival, in my opinion, is one of the best. This is the ninth year that the festival is being put on by Label 27, happening Saturday, July 14, 2018 and Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 11 AM until- 8 PM, giving us two days of incredible music from international stars and heavy-hitting local bands.

This year’s festival features: Toots & the Maytals, Derrick Morgan, The Rastafarians, Junior Toots, Empress Akua, Ital Vibes, Johnny Luv, Pachamama, The Originators, Barrington Levy, Pato Banton, The Lions, Arise Roots, Bodhi Rock, Prime Livity, Cali Conscious, After The Smoke, Yesai, Irie Nature and Eureka Sound. (See the full schedule below.)

Reggae On The Mountain raises money for the Topanga Community Club–a 68 year-old nonprofit with an aging building that’s used for everything from children’s classes to Narcotics Anonymous meetings. So, not only do you get to hear great music, but you are also helping a great cause when purchasing a ticket.

VIP entry includes open bar, shaded VIP lounge access, premium front row stage access and private restrooms. Topanga Community Center, 1440 North Topanga Canyon Blvd, Topanga CA 90290. Ticket Prices: Saturday and Sunday $49.99; 2 Day Pass $79.00, VIP pass $124.99 VIP two Day Pass $224.99

Joan Alperin

About Joan Alperin

Joan was born in Brooklyn and spent many years working as an actress in New York City. Even though she traveled extensively, Joan couldn't imagine living anywhere else.. Well one day, she met someone at a party who regaled her with stories about living in L. A. specifically Topanga Canyon. A few weeks later she found herself on an airplane bound for Los Angeles. Joan immediately fell in love with the town and has been living here for the last twenty years and yes, she even made it to Topanga Canyon, where she now resides, surrounded by nature, deer, owls and all kinds of extraordinary alien creatures.. Joan continued acting, but for the last several years (besides reviewing plays and film) she has been writing screenplays. Joan was married to a filmmaker who created the cult classic films, (way before she knew him) Faces of Death. As a result of his huge following, they created a funny movie review show entitled Two Jews on Film, where Joan and her husband, John would review movies and rate them with bagels You can see their reviews by going to youtube.com/twojewsonfilm. Although it's now only one Jew - Joan is occasionally joined by her beautiful Pekingnese and Japanese Chin.
