TODAY! San Gabriel Valley Pride 17th Annual LGBTQ Pride Event at Pasadena’s Central Park

“San Gabriel Valley Pride: Now! More Than Ever!” 17th Annual LGBTQ Pride Event and Car Show will present their 17th annual LGBTQ Pride celebration On Saturday, October 13, 2018, from 11 a.m. To 9:30 p.m. in Pasadena’s Central Park.

As October is National LGBTQ History month and this year’s pride event in Pasadena is “designed to provide an environment that fosters a more engaged interaction.”

A Classic Car Show will be featured, as well as areas for family, health and wellness, an Authors Forum, participation in Big Draw LA, Carnival Gaymes, a Drag Queen show, a Beer and Wine garden hosted by Three Sisters Catering and Foothill/Twohey’s Restaurants, all day entertainment, and more. 

The line up of entertainment begins after the festival kick-off with an Interfaith Service and Blessing of the Animals at 11 a.m. Laced in Blue headlines, with Echo V, the Drag Show, Kevin (dance), Payton 3.0, King BVMMV, Boynanaroma, Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, and Elyse Shackleton.

The Authors Forum will feature Lee Wind reading from his book “Queer As A Five Dollar Bill” at 1 p.m., poet Cisco reading from a series of books at 2 p.m., C.B. Lee will read from her “Not My Sidekick” book series that features a woman superhero, at 3 p.m., Philip St. John (Diary of a Puerto Rican Porno/Rocket Jockey) will read/discuss from his books at 4 p.m., and Alison Arngrim (Little House on The Prairie) will read from her memoir “Confessions of a Prairie Bitch” at 5 p.m.

Arngrim will also participate in the Classic Car Awards Ceremony, as well as in the Carnival Gaymes.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will oversee the Carnival Gaymes, based on The Queen’s Croquet Game in Alice in Wonderland,  where a team of Drag Queens and Kings, headed by Arngrim portraying Queen 2 of Hearts, are to host. The Carnival Gaymes are a fundraising effort to benefit the Gay Student Alliances (both high school and colleges). An Art Show will exhibit the Portraits of Pride exhibit that was shown in LA City Hall this past June with curated panels from Jeff Sheng’s Fearless which portrays High School and College athletes who came out while in their sports, along with a small exhibit honoring Laura Aguilar, late local artist of the SGValley.

The Classic Car show will feature over a dozen cars and motorcycles representing from early 1900’s up to the 1980’s, where guest judges Alison Arngrim and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will extend awards for excellence in various categories.

The Beer and Spirits garden hosted by Three Sisters Catering and Foothill Catering with Twohey’s Restaurant will feature hand-crafted fresh squeezed lime and AsomBroso Tequila Unicorn Margarita and a Foothill Pride cocktails available at this year’s Pride Festival, along with a beer and wine selection.

Adjacent to the bar, the Foothill Catering truck will provide a festive eating area and serve a variety of burgers including the Twohey’s Bacon Cheeseburger, the Cheese Everything Burger, a Fried Chicken Sandwich, a Vegan Burger, onion rings, garlic fries, sweet potato fries, Twohey’s famous Baby Back Ribs, a kids grilled cheese or chicken tenders, and ice cream sundaes made with Twohey’s Famous Bittersweet Hot Fudge. Items available at $6 – $15.

Three Sisters and Foothill Catering decided to participate in this year’s festival because “This one is a breath of fresh air,” said their Catering Director Enrique Feldman. “They wanted to expand it a little more, with more entertainment, and make it a little more community friendly” with the expansion including the Beer and Wine Garden combined with catering.

The vendors’ area of 17th Annual LGBTQ Pride Event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Three Sisters Beer & Spirits Garden will run until 8:30 p.m., and entertainment and refreshments will run until 9:30 p.m.

8:30-9:30 p.m. – Laced in Blue

An after party after is planned at Rocco’s Tavern on Green Street immediately after the festival.
