Billed as “The world’s largest Halloween and horror convention,” Midsummer Scream offers over 13 haunted attractions in the Hall of Shadows, more than 300 vendors, panels, makeup demos, presentations about upcoming theme park attractions, and live entertainment. There will also be a kid’s area called Paranormal Pixie’s Pumpkin Patch.
Don’t miss Dr. Zomba’s Ghost Show of Terror, a 50s-style campy horror comedy, Peepshow Menagerie, a Haunted Burlesque and Monster Bingo and the Booty Chest. Special guests for the weekend include Elvira, Tony Baxter, Christine McConnell, Eileen Dietz, Peaches Christ and Bill Kopp.
Some panels we recommend on Saturday are: A Chilling Legacy: 50 Years of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion, Spooky and Strange Themed Bars of California, The Boo Crew Talks Rock & Horror, and Real Witches of Southern California. Sunday’s panels include When Brains Attack: Mental Illness and Horror, 30 Years of Tales from the Crypt, and The Winchester House Presentation.
Saturday you can enjoy the event from 11 am until 7 pm, and on Sunday from 11 am until 6 pm. at the Long Beach Convention Center. General Admission Weekend pass: $55 Saturday only: $38 and Sunday: $33. Kids 10 and under free. Get tickets here.
Tickets for the big Saturday night party, The Grim Grinning Gala, are $20 with advance purchase. The party starts at 8 pm and celebrates 50 years of the Haunted Mansion. The party will feature “a $500 costume contest, Leota’s Lounge with a variety of fortune tellers, and a screening of “The Haunted Mansion” film with live commentary by director Rob Minkoff and producer Don Hahn.”
