Takeout Meals to Help You Celebrate New Year’s Eve 2021 at Home

2020 has been a year like no other. Your celebrations will likely be smaller this year, but there’s no reason why they should be any less delicious. As 2020 is about to end, let’s introduce a new year with a safe, forward-looking celebration at home. The restaurants and bars listed below will enable you to enjoy professionally prepared meals at home to help you ring in 2021 in style.

Baltaire

If you have several people to feed, Brentwood’s best gourmet restaurant is offering several options, including a “Holiday Dinner” for four featuring an herb-crusted prime rib roast. Priced at $295, the multi-course meal also includes creamy lobster bisque and chocolate silk pie. Add-ons include caviar, Bourbon eggnog and several wine packages. You can also select “New Year’s Eve Dinner in Paris for four with beef cheek bourguignon, country pâté wrapped in bacon, endive and citrus salad, creme brulee tart, and a bottle of Laurent-Perrier La Cuvee Brut for $375. Baltaire is also offering cheese and charcuterie plates. Order online for pickup. The Holiday Dinner can be picked up Dec. 29 and 30. The new Year’s Eve Dinner is available for pickup on Dec 31.

Bar Ama

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a fried chicken dinner for two from modern Tex-Mex restaurant Bar Ama. Priced at $75 each, dinner includes a whole fried chicken, Johnny Cakes, horseradish mashed potatoes, cucumber dill salad with creme fraiche, and rice pudding. Live it up and add 2020 punch for $40 or smoked trout caviar nachos for $60. Pickup is between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on 12/31. Order for prepaid pickup via TOCK.

Carbon Beach Club

Carbon Beach Club at Malibu Beach Inn is offering a four-course to-go dinner for New Year’s Eve. This prix fixe meal features Siberian sturgeon caviar, a Caesar salad, grilled beef tenderloin and a lobster tail, and dark chocolate cheesecake, along with a bottle of Piper Heidsieck Monopole Brut. This luxurious meal is $200 for two people (or $225 if ordered via one of CBC’s delivery partners). To order, call 310-460-7509.

Castaway

Burbank’s Castaway has three different party packages, from affordable to more lavish, each serving four people. These NYE festivities-to-go begin at $65 (the Get the Party Started package features a cheese and charcuterie board, lobster corn dogs, bacon-wrapped pepper jack shrimp, and rainbow veggie hummus). The NYE Farewell Supper, $190, offers Mixed Green Salad or Caesar Salad, Steak Progressive and Lobster, 50/50 Truffle Mash, and Grilled Broccoli and Broccolini. The Ultimate NYE at Home kit, $295, features all the dishes from both packages, along with two bottles of sommelier selection red wine and one bottle of bubbly.

Dear John’s

Enjoy this classic Culver City steakhouse where the stars dined while Frank Sinatra played piano. Sadly, Dear John’s will be closing in April, but you can have one last hurrah with dishes created by Chefs Josiah Citrin and Hans Rockenwagner. For $165 per person you will receive a a Wagyu ribeye dinner, a selection of three appetizers–“bougie Tots,” Pigs in a Blanket and Deviled Eggs. Talk about old school! Also on the menu are truffled Caesar salad, Broiled king crab, truffle mac and cheese and a mushroom pot pie. For $199 per person they will also include a new Year’s Day brunch featuring Quiche Lorraine, avocado toast, salad and muffins. Pickup is from 4 to 6 pm on the 31 or you can order via TOCK.

The Finishing Gourmet

Bringing you an up-leveled dining experience at home is The Finishing Gourmet, a brand-new concept that requires just five minutes of your time to put the finishing touches to iconic, high-end steakhouse offerings like USDA Prime dry-aged steaks, Snake River Farms’ American Wagyu beef, sashimi-grade tuna tartare, seafood, chops, and side dishes such as lobster mac ‘n’ cheese and jumbo asparagus. You’ll be provided with everything you need to complete your meal:  simple instructions, gourmet finishing salt, extra virgin olive oil, and any needed tools, such as a steak knife and tongs. The crème brûlée even comes with a chef’s torch! Orders can be picked up at The Finishing Gourmet’s Hollywood kitchen or delivered for $30 via TOCK from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
Genever Lounge

For New Year’s Eve, this acclaimed woman-owned gin bar in Historic Filipinotown is offering a variety of cocktails to go, along with three types of paella. The NYE Cocktails range in price from $12 (for one serving) to $65 (six servings). Paella, made by Roger X. Navas-Balladares, is $18 per dish and available in three types: mixtra (chicken, seafood, and chorizo), Valencian (chicken, pork, and more), or mushroom. Harold and Belle’s

Harold & Belle’s has been serving Creole food to Angelenos since 1969. For New Year’s Eve, the Jefferson Park eatery is offering Holiday Catering and “To Geaux” with choices like Cajun fried turkey, pork roast, jambalaya, oyster dressing, red beans and rice, and more. Meals for one are $35, while a feast that serves 20-25 is $475. Order online or call 323-735-9023 to order for pickup anytime through the 31st.

Lanea 

No need to drive to Santa Monica to pick up drinks from this cocktail bar that has made many a best-of list. Through the month of December, Lanea is offering free delivery via the Fetcha app! For NYE, try their affordable Happy New Year Party Pack: a 4-pack of handcrafted Thirst Trap canned cocktails (made with Cazadores or JaJa tequila), one bottle of Martini & Rossi bubbly, party favors for four (hats, noisemakers, necklaces and more), and two bags of Takis for $50.

Moto Ramen

Culver City’s Moto Ramen is offering fixed-price dinner boxes featuring traditional  Japanese dishes meant to bring good luck. Each box is $40 and includes nishime, yellowtail, dashi ikura, yellowtail, salmon sashimi, tuna, miso black cod, and more. You’ll need to pre-order online for pick-up on 12/31.

Rossoblu

Rossoblu, Chef Steve Samson’s upscale Italian restaurant in the DTLA Arts District has a New Year’s Eve prix-fixe feast that includes antipasti, pasta, braised veal cheek, and dessert for $99 per person. You also have the option of joining a Happy Hour Zoom featuring a cocktail demo, a wine chat, and a cooking demo with the chef. You can order via TOCK.

Shutters on the Beach

Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica is offering a three-course menu, at $95 per person, that includes a starter, main course, and dessert. Choose dishes like Wagyu short ribs, lobster bisque, and satsuma tangerine mousse. Vegetarian options are available. Order online via TOCK.
