Beat Recommends: The Dirtbombs @ Alex’s Bar – Long Beach

This Sunday, June 26, in continuation with Scion A/V bringing the best of garage-rock to a town near you, The Dirtbombs invade Long Beach, playing a free show at Alex’s Bar.

Straight out of Detroit, The Dirtbombs are going 16-years strong, with past and present members veterans from Detroit’s garage music scene (most notably, frontman Mick Collins of The Gories).  Blending rock-n-roll with a bit of pop and a whole lot of soul, they continue to expand their sounds, more recently releasing Party Store, a covers album consisting of early Detroit techno tunes, (available now on In the Red Records).

Constantly recognised for their energetic live shows, you’d be a total rectangular object to miss them play at such a small venue like Alex’s Bar.  And if that isn’t enough to convince you to get down there and shake it, the show is free only with RSVP.

Go here to download a free sample EP of Party Store remixes, burn it onto a CD, pop it in your car, and get to Alex’s Bar on Sunday well before the band’s start time of 10pm, as this show is sure to reach maximum capacity quick!

About Piera Peruvian

Piera's life mimics that of Paddington Bear. Born in the deepest darkest Peru, she soon found herself a stowaway, landing in London sometime thereafter. She now resides in Los Angeles where she likes attending gigs, photographing casually, and wondering about the country when time and finances permit. She also enjoys writing short self-bios... in third person of course.

Bummed I missed out on this! Have been wanting to see them for years & always had something unmissable happening. Ultraglide In Black = one of the best rock albums of the last 20 years.

It was a KILLER show!!! I’m sorry you missed it! Songs from their album Party Store are meant to be played live. With those duo drums going at it, along with the funky basslines being delivered by their new bass player, Chris Sutton… you can feel your core shakin’!
