Outfest: The Opening Night Part 1

Last night was the opening of Outfest at the beautiful Orpheum Theater. Vito director  Jeffrey Schwartz pointed out that on that very stage Judy Garland had once performed with The Gum Sisters, prompting and audience member to shout, “How gay!”

There was an opening gala, but if you know me you know that I was where the action is — the red carpet! I got to meet Tab Hunter, and chatted with director Jeffrey Schwartz for so long his PR person asked, “Are you going to take a picture?” The festivities were interrupted by an unseasonable rainstorm, causing celebrities like Diane Ladd and True Blood’s Carrie Preston to rush into the protection of the theater.
