Felio Siby’s Menswear

dominiqueI’m really taken by Dominique Siby’s line, Felio Siby. I had a chance to sit and ask him a few questions about his line.

I love your style-I’m a big fan of the well-dressed man! Do you see more of this now trickling down to the casual market?

Yes, at every level men want to dress well. Isaac Mizrahi has his courtier, high end but he also has lines at Macy’s and at Target. I want to dress everyone.

Do you have a favorite piece (or two?)

It is difficult because they are all my designs but if I had to choose, I guess I would choose  the python T-shirt and the alligator duffle bag.

Are there any particular fabrics or materials you like to work with?

The fabric I’m more interested in working  with are the exotics skins.  Especially the python because you can use it for anything!  From making a T-shirt,  to a jacket, to a bag.  You can  do everything with python. I like ostrich & crocodile to make bags.

Who are your fashion inspirations?

My inspiration came from the world I have been exposed to. I had the chance to grow up between Africa (Gabon) and Europe (France).  So I learn a lot from those cultures and their different styles. Being in America for over a decade brought me another vision to fashion. What you see in my creation comes from those three different regions. I don’t have a favorite designer, but I can appreciate the creativity and uniqueness that Tom Ford or Paul Smith bring to their designs every season.

Last but not least, if you could dress anyone, who would it be?

If I could of dress anybody, it would have been my father. Right now I would say President Obama!  He dresses well but to dress the leader of the free world would be honor, especially coming from where I came from, it would be a sincere honor.
