There’s a place in Beverly Hills, that is becoming one of those epicenters of the rock and roll world, a place where the stars gather to meet, sell their treasures, and mingle. I’m referring to Julien’s Auction House, right in the heart of Beverly Hills. Last week Julien’s held an auction of Ringo Starr’s personal treasure-trove of historic rock memorabilia, with his Beatles drum kit fetching over $2M.
Tonight I was present for the star-studded Joan Collins auction where the iconic actress had a plethora of her outfits, jewelry, and other personal mementos up for auction. Joan Collins may not be rock and roll, but there’s no denying her iconic status. The really great thing about these auctions is that they’re open to the public.
If you have an image in your mind of an auction house in Beverly Hills, one that consists of pretentiousness and unattainable prices, think again. Julien’s is none of that. The staff is great, you’d be amazed at what can be had reasonably, and…they have a bar. Julien’s bills themselves as the “auction house to the stars”, and they’ve auctioned items from Madonna, U2, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, and Michael Jackson. Check out their website and drop by if you get a chance. Who knows what you may end up with.
