No Pants Metro Ride 2018

The annual No Pants Metro Ride took place in Los Angeles last Sunday with hundreds of attendees looking like they had forgotten to wear their pants. Fear not! Nothing inappropriate happens! It’s all in good family-friendly fun.

This event first started in New York. The improv group, Improv Everywhere, thought it would be funny to have pantsless volunteers board the subway at different stops to see how people would react.

Participants start out at different rendezvous locations across the greater Los Angeles area last weekend with a ride captain to explain the rules of the event before telling participants to take off their pants. For this kind of event, it is a good idea to purchase a TAP card and a Day Pass. Everyone meets at Union Station for approximately a half-hour to hang out and act normal around other commuters while buying any food or drinks, seeing friends, or taking photos.

Once it is time to leave Union Station participants go to the Red Line (or the Purple Line) to the 7th and Metro stop. They then take the Expo Line to Downtown Santa Monica. We headed to Tongva Park for a group picture and a word from the organizers before heading off to Ma’Kai Lounge (on Broadway and Ocean), for a debriefing and after-party.

This is one of my favorite events of the year and it is always nice to see people who are new to the event. I hope to see more of you pantsless next year!
