Los Angeles’ wildest variety show is back with their annual Valentine’s spectacular! Lucha VaVOOM brings together Mexican Masked Wrestling, Burlesque, and Comedy at the gorgeous Mayan Theater in DTLA. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2018, and Thursday, Feb. 14, 2018, their special show, titled “Amor Prohibido,” will bring you Lucha Libre-style wrestling, exciting burlesque dancers, aerialists, hula hoops, low riders, comedy, live music, and lots of tequila.
Multimedia artist CHRISTEENE, “a gender-blending, booty-pounding, perversion of punk with a fully equipped arsenal of ferocious music intertwined with raw moments of strained intimacy and fiery stank will be performing on a bill loaded with talent like Russian-born, L.A.-based alternative “fetish” model and burlesque performer MOSH, dancer and fire performer Erica Snap, contortionist and pole artist Brynn Route. Also thrill to special guest commentator Ron Funches, Lucha superstar Rey Fénix from Mexico, LV crowd favorite luchadora Dama Fina, and Tijuana’s flamboyant gender-bending exótico Ruby Gardena.
21+ event open at 7 p.m. and the show goes from 8 – 11 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at $35.00 for general admission tickets (includes balcony and mezzanine seats) and $55.00 for ringside seating.

The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach is offering a special Valentines Day dinner in the actual aquarium. Not in the water though, which would definitely be exciting. As part of their Beers and Fears series, Screamfest invites you to the Chinese 6 Theaters at Hollywood and Highland to watch My Bloody Valentine while clutching at your valentine for dear life. It’s also in 3-D, so you get to have pickaxes thrown right into your face. The film is about a Valentine’s Day massacre that claimed the lives of nearly two dozen people in a creepy mining town. The only survivor returns to town after inheriting the mine, so naturally, he wakes up the killer and is blamed for the murders himself. In addition to the film, there will be photo ops, a trivia contest and exciting prizes. People over 21 will also receive a complimentary beer. Doors at 7 p.m., movie at 7:30 p.m. $3 validated parking. The show will be taking place at the Teragram Ballroom with doors at 7 p.m. and bands at 8 p.m. This benefit is open to all ages.

Angelyne, the queen of the billboard, was once a kitschy oddity and has over time become a beloved LA icon. Come party at her video release party at Zebulon in Frogtown. Zebulon will be decorate in a My Bloody Valentine prom theme with a kissing booth, pink drinks and DJs Olive Kimoto and Paige Emery. Endless Night promotes themed vampire events in places like New Orleans, Paris and Berlin. The Vampire Ball’s theme this year is Anti-Valentines Day. There will be a “live” performance by the Cruxshadows.

Mortified’s Annual Doomed Valentine Show will return to Wonderlust on February 16th with two showings. The first will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and the second show will be from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m. If you have never seen the show, “Mortified,” you should check it out on YouTube. Average people, just like me and you, read their diaries, rejection letters, heartsick poems and other humiliating residue from their emotional pasts for the enjoyment and edification of a sympathetic audience. It is ROMANCE-THEMED, so you know it’s going to be excruciating! Experience a night of food, drink, diaries, teenage heartbreak and laughter. 17.50 for Gen Admission and $40 for the VIP Section.
